Retail Manager

Salary: up to £30,000 per annum

Are you a highly motivated, forward-thinking and team-orientated individual seeking to embark on a new challenge?  Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has an exciting opportunity for you as we expand our services into the community bringing life limiting care closer to home.

We looking for a Retail Manager who will have full operational responsibility for a small number of our shops across East Dorset and Purbeck.  In this new role, you will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations to develop a strategy to maximise retail income therefore allowing the charity to expand and develop its vital services.

You will be primarily responsible for the following: –

  • To maintain and increase the trading profit from the shops’ activities that support the vital services of our charity
  • To meet agreed targets for shop income and expenditure
  • To open new charity retail outlets and develop online sales initiatives

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Experience and confidence of working previously in area retail management, preferably for a large retailer or charity
  • Ability to demonstrate successful track record of excellent entrepreneurial skills, strong commercial awareness and contagious drive to achieve results, strength and resilience
  • Proven track record in coaching and developing a team of Store Managers
  • Successful track record of achieving required sales and profit targets as well as connecting with local businesses and the wider community
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • High level of self-awareness.

Staff management and leadership are key within this role as well as having the drive, commitment, and commercialism to help develop and expand the current retail offering.

In light of the current pandemic we are is keen to focus on attracting new volunteers and customers back into our stores when it is safe to do so and promoting its brand as the place to shop for pre-loved, quality clothing and furniture.

Finance & Operations Director

Are you a highly motivated, forward-thinking and team-orientated full or part qualified accountant ready to embark on a new challenge?  Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has an exciting opportunity for you as we expand our services into the community bringing life limiting care closer to home.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a key role in our organisation intended to bring energy, purpose and substance to the senior team as it pushes forward at this extraordinary time.

Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of our financial management, effective controls and processes, providing critical financial information, analysis, insights, advice and support on financial and operational issues, emerging opportunities and risks to the CEO, management team and Board of Trustees.

The development and successful delivery of the finance function, planning and management, developing and supporting the delivery of budgets, accounts, statutory reports, financial reports and statements are pivotal to this role. This will include all aspects of accounting preparation, purchase ledger, reconciliations, producing monthly management accounts and cash flows, payroll, VAT returns and Intercompany accounts.  You will also support the Lewis-Manning Hospice Care brand and values, raising awareness of our charity and services and hold responsibility for our IT systems, governance and commissioning as well as our retail operations.

We are seeking an individual, ideally with ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications, along with essential relevant experience to join us on a permanent and full-time basis.  A strong understanding of management reporting, budgeting and forecasting that can be evidenced through experience are essential as well as  the ability to work well as part of a small team.  This position also requires a strong commercial acumen with an analytical mindset.  The ability to support and build good relationships with key stakeholders together with excellent IT skills are of paramount importance.
