Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist

Full time (37.5 hours per week)
£29,000-32,000 (dependent on experience)
Based in Poole with travel to satellites in Swanage, Wareham and Wimborne.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is an independent charity that provides exceptional hospice care and support to patients and their families in Poole, Purbeck and East Dorset. We are beginning an exciting new phase in the story of the hospice having moved our services to Longfleet Road in Poole, with outreach to Swanage, Wareham and Wimborne.

We are currently looking for a full-time Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist to join our team providing a co-ordinated, high quality, patient-focused Lymphoedema service for our patients in Bournemouth.

The post will provide skilled care and expertise in lymphoedema management for all patients referred to the lymphoedema service demonstrating competent clinical judgement in deciding patient focused long-range goals and plans.

Reporting to the Senior Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist, the post holder will educate patients, relatives and health care professionals on all aspects of lymphoedema management, demonstrating a positive and realistic attitude to the patient with cancer related lymphoedema to ensure that the physiological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs of the patient and family are met. The post holder will contribute in the developing and maintaining of resources and teaching materials for use by patients, their families and staff and to participate in internal and external teaching on all aspects of Lymphoedema as needed (training will be provided). This post will deputise for the Senior Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist in her absence by managing the day to day organisation of the service.

We are looking for a registered RGN or AHP with a relevant degree and ideally a post graduate qualification in a related subject with significant specialist training in the management of lymphoedema. You must have an approved manual lymphatic drainage qualification and a teaching qualification is also ideal. You will have at least 3 years post registration experience and a minimum of 1 year in the related speciality with oncology or palliative care experience an advantage.

Your energy and enthusiasm for your speciality will be high and your interpersonal and communication skills outstanding with well-developed listening and counselling skills. You will be IT confident and have experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires you to travel to our satellite provisions across the county.

Having recently reviewed our Board skills set as part of our continued good governance we are looking for two Trustees with experience in Online/High Street Retail & Operations/Finance/Business  to join our Board.


Trustee – Operations/Finance/Business  

As part of our strategic plan to deliver even more local hospice care, where people really need it, closer to home. We are looking for a Trustee with knowledge and experience  in business and finance. Supporting our new Director of Finance and Operations and the Board of Trustees you would bring senior-level professional experience including knowledge of different aspects of business operations, strategy and an understanding of business development and investment. A genuine interest in the running  of our charity and a passion for the work of our hospice in the local community is essential. This Trustee position also sits on our Finance Board Committee.

Trustee High Street & Online Retail (New Board position)

To help us expand our charity retail income streams and therefore deliver even more local hospice care, where people really need it, Closer to Home. We are looking for a Trustee with a strong understanding of trading both on the High Street and online via charity friendly sites such as e-bay for charity. In supporting our charity retail team you would be contributing your expertise to help enhance the Boards understanding of trends, challenges and opportunities in retailing today. As the ideal candidate you would bring senior-level professional or advisory experience in charity or main stream retailing and a passion for the work of our hospice in the local community.
